Many children become frustrated and find schoolwork difficult because they do not have the cognitive skills required to process information properly. For these children additional homework or tutoring that does not address underlying cognitive skill weakness will add additional frustration, feelings of hopelessness and intensify the reading and learning difficulties. This frustration may lead to the child simply "tuning out" during school and learning time.
Good brain performance requires attention, processing, speed, auditory processing, short and long term memory and visual processing. These cognitive skills are the keys to academic performance. Weakness in any of these skills will often lead to learning difficulties and academic failure. Coastal Speech Center delivers a training program that produces noticeable and measurable changes.
